"The idea is to write it so that people hear it, and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart." - Maya Angelou

The Olympia Poetry Network is a nonprofit/charitable organization dedicated to increasing literary awareness and an appreciation of poetry for folks living at the south end of Puget Sound
(Thurston, Mason, Gray's Harbor and Lewis Counties).
OPN holds general meetings at 6:30pm on the third Wednesday of every month at Traditions Fair Trade Cafe on the corner of 5th and Water Street (300 5th Ave.) in downtown Olympia. Most months we feature a published poet as a reader. Regular meetings open with an Open-mic for half-an-hour. All readers are asked to limit their readings to 3 minutes. If you have one or two short poems you'd like to share with us, come early (6:00pm or so) and put your name on the sign-up sheet. We often have books of poetry available for free or for a small donation. Members and non-members alike are encouraged to join us for an evening of poetry in all its forms, and non-members will find other forms available for membership! You can also find information about joining on our Membership page.
